Deceptikon: Mythology of the Metropolis
March 18th, 2010Serious Slam Fest.
“Mythology of the Metropolis” is the highly anticipated third
Deceptikon album, and is easily his most ambitions work to date. The
record is a genre-hopping, bass-heavy, mind-bending album of epic
proportions, one that is equally suited for the home stereo as well as
the dance floor. Heavy analog bass lines, vocals mangled just beyond
recognition, vocoded samples, and thumping drums play like a
soundtrack to genres that haven’t yet been invented. Created primarily
while Wright was living in Japan, “Mythology of the Metropolis” is an
extended love letter written to the city of Tokyo. Over three years in
the making, the album features guest contributions from artists as
diverse as He Can Jog (Audiobulb, Benbecula), Copy (Audio Dregs), Oly
(170, Ipecac), and Vincent Parker (Fourthcity, Run Riot). A critical
and underground fan favorite, Deceptikon is an artist to watch in
2010.

March 9th, 2010I’ve seen this name around Vancouver for forever.. but I never checked it out.. awesome.
Do you see what I have to work with…
January 11th, 2010So, in between bouts of Lego Batman with my CA, I have been constructing the thumper daffodil theme. The design will definitely take us into CSS2/3 territory, with a modest amount of javascript.. I am still pondering what to do about IE6, and whether or not i want to debug for it.. or just give a crippled version with a desperate plea to upgrade.
The shop is coming along. There will be FLAC versions of the Winnie the Shit albums ($8 each, $18 for all three), a collection of Unreleased/Rare Spark tracks, and of course a new album from Thumper Daffodil. Vincent Parker is designing the covers for the FLAC release of the Winnie the Shit albums.
Vincent is a well known, and reputable poster designer, signed to the Run Riot record label, and recently won the national laptop DJ Battle in Seattle, Washington. I am excited, as the Winnie albums never received proper cover treatment.
